Email research, for families navigating federal procedures.
Athene Letters is an account-based email research assistant. Send a question about a federal regulation, BOP Program Statement, FOIA process, or other public-agency procedure — and receive a plain-text answer in your inbox, typically within minutes.
How it works
- Sign up with your email address. We issue your account one unique inbound address, for example
pair-x6mpyn3eq8@mail.atheneletters.com. - Send a research question to that address. Questions can come from you directly, or from a relative who has the address on their approved Corrlinks/TRULINCS contact list.
- Receive a plain-text answer at your registered email address. Every reply includes citations to relevant Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) sections or public agency policy and a clear "not legal advice" disclaimer.
What we answer
- General FOIA procedures and timing expectations
- Bureau of Prisons Program Statement references and program eligibility rules
- Federal sentencing guideline lookups and standard procedures
- Public agency policy and regulation citations
What we do not do
- We do not provide legal advice or create an attorney-client relationship.
- We do not answer case-specific questions about a particular person, charge, or proceeding. Send research questions, not personal facts.
- We do not send marketing email, newsletters, or promotional messages.
